Presidential Management Fellowship Info Session

The Presidential Management Fellowship program is the premier program for leadership development in the Federal civil service. This two-year fellowship was established to attract to federal services outstanding individuals who have a clear interest in, and commitment to excellence in, the leadership and management of public policies and programs. If you are planning to apply or simply want to learn more about the program, please mark your calendars for the upcoming information session. Schar School alumni selected as Presidential Management Fellows will also be on hand to discuss their experiences with the program.

Now Hiring AMP Mentors for Fall 2023

The Mason Early Identification Program (EIP) and Academic Mentoring Program (AMP) are looking for undergraduate or graduate students who are interested in working with the middle and high school student populations, tutoring, mentoring, and giving back to the Northern Virginia community for the Fall 2023 semester. Learn more about this AMP Mentor position below, and apply on Mason360 by August 27, 2023 (Priority Application Deadline) or September 4, 2023 (General Application Deadline). 

About AMP Mentors: 

The AMP Mentors will play an integral role in supporting the delivery of academic supports needed for academic and personal success at over 25 different tutoring sites. These supports comprise of academic coaching, academic assistance, and ultimately helping EIP students realize their academic potential. AMP Mentors will report directly to the Assistant Director and Associate Director at EIP. This will be an in-person position for Fall 2023 with starting pay of $14/hour.

Note: transportation to sites is provided for those who do not have their own transportation. 

Qualifications: 
  • Undergraduate/Graduate students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 
  • Able to provide academic assistance to students in English, Math, Science, History, and/or other subjects 
  • Able to work with minors and pass a Mason background check in addition to county/school background checks

International Buddy Program Accepting Applications

The International Buddy Program (IBP) is a collaboration between the Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) and INTO Mason and aims to build cross-cultural relationships between Mason’s international and domestic students while enjoying a variety of campus events and activities together. It is a great way to help international students feel more familiar with the campus and the Mason community, as well as to help American students explore the many different cultures represented among our international student population. This program is built on a foundation of conversation, cultural exchange, and friendship. We hope you can join us!

Mental Health First Aid 

Enroll in a fall semester section of UNIV 372: Mental Health First Aid for 0-1 credit. Through your participation in the course, you have the option to earn a Mental Health First Aid certification. This course will help you become more familiar with a variety of mental health challenges and explore how stigma may affect help-seeking behaviors. You will also learn basic skills to help someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis.

Gradstravaganza 2023

Gradstravaganza 2023 Save The Date

All new and continuing Mason graduate students are invited to Gradstravaganza, Mason’s annual graduate student welcome event! Gradstravaganza is a two-day event: first, a fully virtual line-up of sessions on Friday, August 18, 9am-4pm to help kickstart your graduate student experience, followed by an in-person picnic to celebrate the end of the first week of classes on Saturday, August 26 on Wilkins Plaza!  

Friday’s Success sessions will feature workshops highlighting strategies for success, presentations to help prepare Graduate Assistants (GRAs, GTAs, and GPAs), and a student panel sharing their tips for optimizing your graduate school experience. 

Saturday’s Picnic will feature FREE food, t-shirts, games, crafts, giveaways, and plenty of activities to enjoy! You will also have opportunities to connect with academic units, campus resources, and graduate student organizations. Families are welcome!
