Assessing Cultural Competency: Graduate Student Survey

M.S. in Educational Psychology student, John Donnelly, is seeking graduate students to assist in thesis-related data collection by participating in an online survey.  Please read his message below.

 

Hello Fellow Mason Graduate Student,

My name is John Donnelly, and I am a student in GMU’s M.S. in Educational Psychology Program. I am currently conducting research focused on the cultural competence of faculty members in terms of how they interact with underrepresented minority graduate students.

Given the racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity that exists amongst our graduate students, this research on cultural competence is particularly relevant to our academic community, which is why your willingness to help advance this research by participating in a Qualtrics Survey would be so important and impactful!

Delta Kappa Gamma Society Scholarship Grant for Women Educators

Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is an organization whose purposes are to unite women educators of the world and to advance the professional interests and positions of women in education; to stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to inform the membership of economic, social, political, and educational issues to the end that they may become intelligent functioning members of a world society.  The Society is offering The Frances N. Registration is now open for Opportunities in Urban Education: Making a Difference in Richmond, VA.  The event, held on February 27 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., is a panel discussion moderated by CEHD Dean, Mark Ginsberg.  His guests will be former Virginia Secretary of Education and current Visiting Education Policy Professor, Anne Holton, and Levar Stoney, Mayor of Richmond.  Their discussion will center upon:

  • Challenges and opportunities for educators in an urban setting such as Richmond
  • Richmond’s efforts to improve the lives of its youth in and out of the classroom
  • How graduates of CEHD and other top Virginia teacher preparation programs play a pivotal role in these efforts
  • Why Richmond is an ideal place to live and create an impactful career in education
