We are pleased to announce that the Hattie M. Strong Foundation (HMSF) is once again offering sponsorship of select College of Education and Human Development student teaching interns.
The HMSF will award $5,000 to Mason student teaching interns for fall 2018 who:
- have exhibited outstanding success and enthusiasm with field experience and/or student teaching;
- have demonstrated financial need by applying for financial aid in the past; and
- have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
In accordance with the wishes of the HMSF, scholarship candidates must meet the above criteria, and include the following in their application packet:
- Online HMSF Scholarship Personal Information form, resume and essay (not to exceed 350 word): https://cehd.gmu.edu/students/funding/scholarships
- Recommendation letter. Send the following link to one or two faculty members to complete the online recommendation form: https://gmucehd.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9Y33cHknv9yGlil
For full consideration, submit your complete application by Thursday, September 13, 2018. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
The CEHD committee will review all applications and select qualified Mason CEHD students to be recipients of the Fall 2018 HMSF awards. Award winners, “Strong Scholars”, will be notified by September 25, 2018*. Strong Scholars may be required to attend a recognition/social event in Fairfax during the Spring semester.
Please contact SAA Administrative Operations Manager at SAAsuprt@gmu.edu if you have any questions.
*Please note that the GMU deadline to pay fall 2018 tuition without penalty is August 27. To avoid late fees, the scholarship recipients would need to pay for their tuition before the tuition deadline. The scholarship funds will be credited to their student accounts in late September/early October.
