It’s hiring season for school districts throughout our region.  In addition to the Fairfax County Public Schools and Roanoke City Public Schools events we recently shared with you, we have some new opportunities to put your CEHD degree to work:

Virginia Educators’ Expo :

Educators’ Expo is an annual event sponsored by the University of Virginia Curry School of Education Career Services Office, and is open to all, even those unaffiliated with UVA. The Expo attracts approximately 400 education students from all academic levels. Generally 75-100+ organizations (including public school divisions, charter schools, private/independent schools and education recruiting agencies) participate to recruit for full-time & summer positions.  For full details click here.

Your Skills. Richmond’s Children.

Registration is now open for Opportunities in Urban Education: Making a Difference in Richmond, VA.  The event, held on February 27 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., is a panel discussion moderated by CEHD Dean, Mark Ginsberg.  His guests will be former Virginia Secretary of Education and current Visiting Education Policy Professor, Anne Holton, and Levar Stoney, Mayor of Richmond.  Their discussion will center upon:

  • Challenges and opportunities for educators in an urban setting such as Richmond
  • Richmond’s efforts to improve the lives of its youth in and out of the classroom
  • How graduates of CEHD and other top Virginia teacher preparation programs play a pivotal role in these efforts
  • Why Richmond is an ideal place to live and create an impactful career in education

Job Opportunities

We have three new employment opportunites for our students this week:

The Hellenic Education Center in Falls Church Virginia is seeking a Kindergarten teacher for its inaugural kindergarten class for 2018-19. This is a .6 time position (4.5 hours daily) in a Kindergarten bilingual program. This position can be turned into a full time (12 month) position by adding hours in the Paideia preschool class or before/after care responsibilities, according to the candidate’s preference.  Click here for more information.

 

Fairview Elementary School is looking for a long-term substitute teacher for the 3rd grade.  The position will start February 20th and last until near the end of May. Duties include the planning, assessment, instruction, communication, human relations, safety, and management of a classroom or assigned instructional setting for 3rd grade students. Interested applicants should send their resumes to tspaper@fcps.edu or call (703)503-3700.

 

EIP Student Success Coaches – Mason’s Early Identification Program (EIP) is looking for new student success coaches for the spring semester.  Applications are due Wed, Jan 24th.  Interviews start this week. See here for more information and here for the application.
